More info on Prototyping Tutorials

PCB prototyping is a skill that is highly valued in industry, especially for small companies and R&D departments. In this 3-part tutorial, we will take you through layout of a PCB board in EAGLE including creating custom components, circuit trace layout, and post-layout processing. When you are done you will have a circuit and layout that you could either etch yourself or order it from a PCB fabrication house. The skills learned will apply, not only to PCB layout in EAGLE, but also to many other CAD programs, including CADENCE. Also covered will be standard SMT component sizes and footprints.

Bring: laptop with EAGLE installed. Sample circuit diagrams will be provided, or you can use your own.

Requirements: It helps to have a basic knowledge of circuit components (e.g. resistor), but everyone is welcome.

Jacob Portukalian is currently a 4th year undergrad in EE at UCLA and a member of IEEE, HKN, and TBP. He currently holds a part-time job as an RF Design Engineer at Topanga Technologies in Canoga Park. EAGLE board layout is a large part of his job, and he finishes and orders a new design every few weeks.
