Description:

Come to the second
IEEE Essentials of this year and make your very own tilt-sensor,
complete with LED’s to indicate the direction of the title. The PCB board is
a circular disk with the accelerometer at the center and a ring of LED’s
attached to the circumference of the circuit board. As one tilts the
board, the LED’s corresponding to the lowest point will light up. Please see
this link for a video demonstration.
Due to the limited amount of kits, please come early as kits are distributed on a first come first serve basis. |

Description:
|
The IEEE Green
Energy and Systems Conference provides the perfect environment to network
with fellow researchers and practitioners from relevant fields, and a chance
to obtain first-hand information on the latest advances in technologies,
prototypes and application exemplars. This year’s conference will be hosted
on November 25th, 2013 at Pyramid, CSULB.
We are looking in particular for any student members who would like to submit and present their own green-energy-related research in the form of a 2-5 page paper and a presentation. This conference’s focus is on Efficient Utilization of Energy and Storage Systems. Information about the conference and deadlines can be found here. |

Description:

Show how you can
change the world by developing a unique communication solution to
a real-world problem using engineering, technology, science,
computing, and leadership skills to benefit the community or the world. Explain how
you have made a positive impact for humanity, and you can win. For more
information about the competition, please refer to this link. 1st place will receive $2000 and a plaque,
2nd place gets $1000 and a plaque. Meritorious projects will
receive honorary certificates from IEEE Communications Society.
Eligibility: Student
member or Graduate Student Member of IEEE Communications Society or team with
either Student members or non-members but led by Student Member. All participants
must be 18 years or older. IEEE Communications Society membership
registration can be found here.

Assistant Opening
|
Bouchard Laser lab specializes in AFM/ODMR,
spectroscopy, cryogens, optics, microscopes, and lasers. The lab will train
in everything optics, machine shop, CAD use, and other skill sets. This is an
unpaid positions but hard work will be rewarded with authorship credit on
papers.
Must be reliable and around the UCLA area for the
next year. Must have physical science background. Knowledge of CAD and
labwork experience a plus. Summer availability preferable. Application will
be accepted through 8th week.

‘South Campus’ and research laboratories, addressing the concerns of
prospective students in their application and decision process.
