      IEEE General Meeting #4

      Come to the last IEEE general meeting of the fall quarter! You can learn on how to become more involved with IEEE this upcoming Winter quarter. We will be discussing on how to become part of our wonderful General Board where you can learn the behind the scenes of IEEE officer board.

      STC Summer Research Internship Infosession

      At UC Berkeley, the Center for E3S hosts a summer research internship (http://www.e3s-center.org/education/edu-ugrad-oview.htm) for engineering students focused on energy efficient electronics science. This is 9-week paid internship that will allow students to conduct research with a faculty member in my center and to also participate in graduate preparation workshops.  To increase the students awareness about our program, a representative from UC Berkeley has been visiting different schools doing information session about finding summer research internships and preparing for graduate school.

      Soldering Workshop

      Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal (solder) into the joint, the filler metal having a lower melting point than the workpiece. Soldering differs from welding in that soldering does not involve melting the work pieces.


      If you are interested in learning how to solder or learning a new skill, come to the workshop!!

      Interested in STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and math) outreach? Want to become a better and more awesome person? Look no further because Building Engineers and Mentors (BEAM) at UCLA is the organization for you! 


      BEAM is a student-run, engineering outreach program that does fun and exciting hands-on science activities with K-12 students (think science fair experiments). Our goal is to make science fun and encourage students to become engineers. We go to three schools on a weekly basis:


      Mondays    2:30 - 5:30pm Young Oak Kim Academy (6-8th grade)
      Fridays    1:30 - 4:30pm Aspire Firestone Academy (3-5th grade)
      Fridays    2:30 - 5:30pm Aspire Junior Collegiate Academy (3-5th grade)


      Transportation is provided --all you have to do is show up and have fun!
